Cross Stich Christmas Cards

These are christmas cards made for the two little girls in Emma's mothers group. I had her scribble on the bottom in case you thought I was being very messy!!

The Dress in Action

So here is my mums group dress in action. Em has had a little growth spurt so, although slightly big, still can pass as wearable. This is 10 o'clock at night so she is a little worn out!!

Christmas Presents

Hi have to pass a big thanks to the designer of this crayon roll. For some reason I always had little problems making the other ones but this was easy peezy and looks so much better than the others. It is for my nephew for Christmas. He is only 2 and I thought I would replace the ribbon with some elastic and it works well for tying it up.

For his sister I made a notebook holder and tote bag. The notebook holder is actually a bit small for A5 (even though it is meant for that!!). I have found a sketch book I need to just cut down a little and it will fit perfectly.

For their other sister my final christmas project is a cork board for her. Stay tuned.....

To do List is smaller than the Have Done list!!!

I needed to comment on this, I seem to finally be making headway which is nice! Will have to now start adding more things on the to do list.

Oven Mitt Challenge

Over at EB beginner sewers we had an oven mitt challenge for November. It took me nearly 3 weeks just to get the materials I needed so I was a bit late finishing. It was my first attempt at using batting as well as making my own bias tape. Overall I am very happy with my attempt, however I haven't tested it with heat yet!!! I also made a matching pot holder (my first Amy Butler design!!).

Present

A friend in my mothers group made this for me. I drive us around (which is no hassle because she's 5 mins away) but she wanted to say thanks. I'm so in love with it. I tried to make one ages ago and was totally hopeless with it, but she is very talented.

Ottobre Jacket

I'm too excited about this jacket that, although it isn't finished, I needed to blog it already!! It's reversable and slightly A-Line. I got the wrong sized buttons and it needs a little belt piece on the back of the blue side, but other than that all done!!! The pictures aren't the best but they do enlarge to show a bit more detail.

Here is the pattern from the mag:

Bucket Hat

I have finally gotten around to blogging this hat. This is the 2nd attempt, the first was a little small for my darlings larger sized head!!

First Skirt

Ok, so this is along the procrastination line. Here is the first thing I ever made! It is a wrap skirt which needed a button hole and I didn't know how to do them, so I put it away. I finally did one last night and having a look at the quality is very embarassing but also encouraging to see that I have improved slightly!!! Sorry about the clothes underneath and the dishes in the background, it was the easiest way to get a picture this morning. The tie is also too long so when I get around to making another I will adjust this.

Play Ball

Here is a little play ball I finally finished for Em. I'm a hopeless procrastinator and when I get to the boring stuff I put it off for ages. With this ball it was the circles (or septagons!) at the top that I needed to handsew. Was going to make a set but have other more exciting things to make. Maybe later.......

Lazy Days Skirt

I finally made one. I have had the pattern printed forever and finally found some material for it. I love it and enjoyed making it. I can even see that my sewing is getting better, ie straighter!

First Attempt at Shirring

Ok...here was my first attempt at shirring. All in all I am quite happy with it. Once I place some straps on it I think it will make a nice summer dress. I have some more material to make another with, but got so excited over this one thought I might post pics of it. Excuse the dribble on the close up!!!

Lounge Pants

I made these pants from a pattern which actually had a ruffle. I wasn't too impressed with the ruffle so decided just to hem them instead. This is my second pair and each time I mucked up the cutting out and had 2 of the same side legs, it took me forever to realise what I was doing wrong. The first time I unpicked the pants twice before I realised!!

Mothers Group Dress

Here is my mothers group dress. Another girl and I wanted to learn how to sew so one of the other mums is teaching us and this is our second project (following a successful cushion cover!). It is too big for DD at the moment (it was taking so long to make the dress I was worried it would be too small for her!).

The Dress

...and here is the dress.

Is that a dress??

I first attempted this dress but it actually fit better as a top so I adjusted it for my next attempt and made it longer for a dress. I did have to take it in after it was made as well, which was quite advanced for me!!!! Please excuse the garbage bags of clothes in the back ground, they were waiting to be put away.

Here is the link for the tutorial. (I have even learnt how to link websites within words!!)
